Autoflowering seeds offer many advantages that both beginner and expert growers will appreciate. Thanks to the addition of Cannabis ruderalis genes, the plant flowers earlier and faster. Within seven to nine weeks of sprouting, you will already be able to harvest your Girl Scout Cookies Extreme buds, regardless of whether you are growing indoors or outside. This short maturation period means that you can have multiple crops all year round. Furthermore, your plant will remain short and dense, allowing you to make the best use of a small area.
Unlike the regular or conventional feminized version, Girl Scout Cookies Extreme Autoflower is not photosensitive. You will not have to switch the light cycle to induce flowering, and you will never accidentally revert your plant from flowering to vegging either. Simply maintain the same light schedule throughout your plant’s life. Giving it 18 hours of light a day will produce a decent enough yield. But if you want more, you can keep the lights on for 24 hours. This will encourage super-robust growth and your crop will be more bountiful.
Indoors, you can bump up the yield even more by using the Sea of Green (SoG) technique. The plant’s compact size allows you to fit many of them in a tiny space, while the wide-reaching branches ensure that light efficiency is maximized. You can expect four to eight ounces of usable bud per square meter. Compared to conventional seeds, that may not be a lot. However, because of the rapid maturity and simple light requirements of this strain, you can have non-stop production within the same grow room without any problems.
If you choose to grow outdoors, the plant will be a bit taller – about 24 to 40 inches (60 to 100 cm) – but still pretty stealthy. It will thrive best in a sunny, Mediterranean-like climate. Nonetheless, its Ruderalis lineage will help it to withstand colder weather. As a matter of fact, cool temperatures will bring out the plant’s purple hue. This is due to the presence of anthocyanins, a flavonoid that provides color as well as antioxidant and anti-inflammatory benefits.
Around the seventh week of your plant’s life – whether indoors or outdoors does not matter – you will start to see greenish buds and neon orange hairs poking out everywhere. There will be a dusting of sticky, crystal-like trichomes all over the plant. (These sugary trichomes are responsible for this strain’s tantalizing freshly-baked aroma.) Let the buds develop a couple of weeks more, and then presto! It is harvest time.
By the way, these seeds are feminized, which means that they are guaranteed to produce only female plants. As this white paper from 2017 explains, if you want smokable buds, eliminating the male plants will help you achieve your goal. Males carry pollen that will taint the females’ flowers, and that will generate more seeds than buds. Feminized seeds also produce a higher THC level. In the case of Girl Scout Cookies Extreme Autoflower, it is an impressive 20%.
