Our Super Silver Haze seeds are feminized, meaning they are specially designed to produce female plants exclusively. All-female crops have many advantages, including a more bountiful harvest of buds and higher THC levels, according to this white paper from 2017. Male plants can decrease your yield because they carry pollen that contaminates the females’ flowers. Instead of smokable weed, they create seeds. By eliminating the male sex chromosomes, we have taken care of this problem for you.
SS Haze is best grown indoors, and if you have experience growing hydroponically, so much the better. The plant tends to start off slowly, but it will attempt to reach its full height of seven feet as it approaches the flowering stage. This is fine if your grow room has a high ceiling – just use stakes to support the plant so that it does not fall over. Otherwise, you can use the Screen of Green (SCROG) technique to control the stretch.
SCROG can help improve yield size and the quality of the weed. You will need a screen or netting with holes no larger than 2 square inches (5 square centimeters). Place it about 10 inches above your growing medium. When the plant begins to poke out through the screen, tuck it back with your fingers so that it grows horizontally instead of upwards. Another advantage of this method is you can use smaller grow lights that will not call too much attention from busybodies.
If you want to grow outdoors, you can only do so if you have a warm and humid climate. The ideal temperature is between 70 and 80 degrees Fahrenheit (21 to 26 degrees Celsius). If it gets too cold, your plant will not be able to absorb nutrients properly. It does not like to be showered with too many nutrients, either – Sativas require less feeding than Indicas. In addition, SS Haze grows best in relatively high humidity, but too much moisture in the soil will deprive the roots of oxygen. Given this strain’s fussiness, you can understand why we recommend growing it indoors.
Super Silver Haze is an exceptionally beautiful plant. Within ten to eleven weeks (around mid-October if you are growing outside), your plant will begin to be covered with frost-like trichomes. The longer you put off harvesting, the more the light-green buds will look like they have been rolled in snow. You will also notice faded orange pistils scattered around the silver sheen. If you are impatient to experience this weed’s magnificence, you can use hydroponics to shorten the flowering period.
